The first time I tried to put the Restorer on it seemed like such a difficult job. I had found the right size Restorer for my penis now came the challenge of taping it into place. You can read about how I determined the right size Restorer on the "What size Restorer?" page. I must say that the first few times I tried taping, I was sure my Restorer was too small. But once I got used to everything I realised it wasn't and that it was OK to squeeze my glans in there as it wasn't going to hurt it. It's important to stay completely soft, as the job is almost impossible otherwise. Easier said than done I know but after a while "he" got bored with all of this attention and stayed soft without my having to resort to horrid mental imagery in order to get him down again. Here's my taping procedure. Thank you to Martin and David for their help in preparing these photos.

Place the Restorer over the glans and gently ease it in using the fingers to lightly compress the corona if necessary. Ensure the Restorer and foreskin are clean, dry and free from any oils or moisturiser. Check to see if the glans is all of the way in by looking through the hole in the end of the Restorer. If my glans had an elongated shape there may still have been a considerable portion of glans unable to fit inside the Restorer. I expect this would have caused slight problems in the very early stages ( CI - 1 or CI - 2 ) as it would have been difficult holding my slight amount of foreskin forward enough in order to tape it onto the Restorer. I found a small amount of moisturiser useful to help ease the head into the Restorer - but had to avoid getting any excess on the foreskin or outside of the Restorer as this prevents the tape from sticking firmly. I stopped using moisturiser for this reason - but in the early stages it seemed to help and my glans felt more comfortable in the Restorer if it had moisturiser in there.
Once the glans has been compressed down slightly and the corona eased into the opening of the Restorer it should sit comfortably inside. |

Next I gently pulled my foreskin up (like pulling up my socks) so it sat evenly and comfortably around the Restorer. It's about now I found out how skilled the doctor was who circumcised me. Some circumcisions are very uneven and when the guys pull their foreskins over a Restorer for the first time they really notice it. There's also the trend by some Doctors of leaving the frenulum intact. That means there will be more foreskin on the under side than the top side, and the cut line will be on an angle. In these cases I would try to pull my foreskin up as evenly as possible. The Restoration process will stretch the shorter parts of the foreskin first and this will have the effect of evening the foreskin up over time. Differential stretching is an advanced technique I used to address problems like unevenness - but that's not something I worried about until I had been Restoring successfully for many weeks. Another issue with the angle cut (or maybe if I had had a CI-3 or CI-4 foreskin when I started) is that the frenulum has to be accommodated by the Restorer - requiring a modification to it. There is a discussion on how I did that on the "Advanced Issues" page under "Accommodating the frenulum".
In my case my frenulum didn't cause any comfort problems until I had Restored to about CI-4 then it prevented me from evenly pulling my foreskin over the Restorer. I had to cut a small groove in my Restorer to accommodate it. |

Tape the foreskin to the Restorer. Working bit by bit - I would tape my foreskin to the Restorer. I positioned the tape so about half was on the foreskin and the other half was on the Restorer. It was important for me to make sure my foreskin was kept even as I worked my way around. Tape tension must also be even: not so tight as to cut off blood circulation to the foreskin under the tape, and not so loose that the tape won't stay put for more than an hour or so. Tape tension is one of the most important safety aspects of foreskin restoration. I could have caused serious injury to my foreskin if I had cut off the blood flow. For a full discussion on the dangers of cutting off the blood flow please read the "Dangers and First Aid" page. DO NOT TAPE TOO TIGHTLY |

Rub the tape firmly onto the skin. To help the tape adhere to the skin I rubbed it down firmly with my thumb. I worked right around my penis and then right round again rubbing the tape firmly onto the Restorer. This part is important too as frustration can set in if the tape keeps coming off after an hour or so, requiring a retaping. The temptation is to tape tighter next time so the tape won't come off but then the serious health risks of cutting off the blood flow arise. I found that tape at a safe tension will not come off if it is rubbed firmly onto the skin and firmly onto the Restorer. The skin must be clean and dry. Any moisturisers or skin treatments could stop the tape sticking properly and have to be removed first. I also found that tape adhesive residue on the Restorer helped the tape stick to it. It didn't look that nice but it certainly was sticky. Read Tape adhesive residue on the "Advanced Issues" page for a fuller discussion. |

Step 7

Thread the end of the waistband through the glide sock. The glide sock prevents the Restorer or penis from "sticking" in the same place. If they are under clothes or sitting against bare skin the effectiveness of the stretch is reduced by the inability of the Restorer or penis to move back or forth as the body position changes. The result is that the Restorer stays in exactly the same place for the whole day and the tension on the stretch is less than it could have been. The glide sock sits over the Restorer and penis and allows them to move without becoming planted in the same spot all day. The glide sock works best if it is not positioned against bare skin (see wearing positions of the tension bands for ideas). |

Step 8
|
|

|
Attach the fastener to the end of the tension band and thread the clip through the fastener. I found this a little fiddly at first and had to be careful to avoid pricking my finger with the fastener's sharp teeth.
I also learned that the fastener's teeth could pass right through the band and create an irritation against my skin. The answer was to position the fastener so the side next to my skin protected me from the teeth on the other side. The diagram below shows how the bottom part shields me from the teeth of the top part.
The first time I used a new tension band it had to be trimmed to the right length with a pair of scissors. I would put it on and pull the band tight into the final wearing position to see where the cut should be made. I was careful not to cut too much off. When I was a beginner I started restoring with low tension on the band so made sure I cut only a small amount off until I got used to it. In a few days when I was used to it I then cut the tension band shorter to generate my normal stretching tension. My alternative to using the fastener is simply knotting the band around the clip. It's not as pretty and is doesn't sit flat on the skin - but these were not issues in loose trousers or at night and it sure made life simpler. With a knot it's also easy to change the tension by letting out more band or by pulling some in. |

Step 9

Gently pull the Restorer before inserting the clip into the end. I was careful not to prick my glans when inserting the clip into the Restorer. It paid to gently pull the Restorer out to make space in the end before inserting. In the early stages when my Restorer was positioned hard onto my penis and later when differentially stretching my inner foreskin I had to be extra careful as there will be very little space between my glans and the end of the Restorer even when it was being pulled out.

Step 10
|
|
||||||||||||||
|
Sit my penis into position near my hip and gently allow the tension to come on. Pull the glide sock down over the Restorer and penis. This was my "be gentle" step. I didn't want to suddenly apply tension without my penis and foreskin being ready. After all simply letting go of the tension band could have allowed the tension to come on to my foreskin so quickly that it could pull the tape, or worse some foreskin, right off. I kept a tight hold of the end of the tension band until I was ready to slowly apply tension. Notice how Martin's penis is sitting lower on his hip than David's. David is using the shoulder band which pulls the penis more vertically than the waistband. I would choose either style of band to suit the clothes I was wearing. I might have had problems with the waistband if I had a long penis. In this case my Restorer might have been positioned too close to the edge of my hip for it to be concealed easily.
Once the tension is on pull the glide sock down so it completely covers the Restorer and penis.
